Vesa Yli-Pelkonen
In my PhD research I studied use of ecological information, local ecological knowledge and the role of stream ecosystems in urban land-use planning. I defended my PhD thesis in December 2006. Currently I am studying ecosystem services provided by urban green areas, and working in research projects titled “Measured data on ecosystem services supporting sustainable urban growth (EKO-HYÖTY)” (Urban Research and Metropolitan Policy Cooperation Programme 2015-2016), “Environmental Justice and Ecosystem Services: Access, equity and participation in the use and management of aquatic environments in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area – ENJUSTESS” (Academy of Finland 2012-2016), and “Operationalisation of Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services: From concepts to real-world applications – OpenNESS” (EU Seventh Framework Programme 2012-2017).
