I started my education from biological sciences, concentrated on ecology, and then chose landscape architecture and planning for application. I have been doing consulting and planning work of land and urban development after graduation in China. And now I am trying to examine the ecological processes during landscape changes from a scientific perspective.
My research during PhD focuses on the biodiversity implications and influences of land use and urban planning strategies. Shanghai, as a city encounters urbanization and the pioneer to adopt innovation in China, is taken as the studied area. Planning strategies of shanghai demanding for series of ecosystem services in series of administrative levels. The research takes a landscape view to measure biodiversity pattern. By figuring out the synergy and contradiction in biodiversity process underlying, the expected results try to inform land use and urban planning decisions by making the implicit trade-offs more visible.
